Elisa Magnani is Associate Professor of Human Geography at the Department of History and Cultures of the University of Bologna.
Her research focuses on two cultural and heritage tourism - namely memory and root tourism in the places connected to the slave trade in Africa, and on the nexus between climate change and mobility, both tourism and migration.
From 2018 to 2024 she coordinated the Master degree in Geography and territorial processes.
From 2017 to 20224 she was the president of the Emilia-Romagna Section of the AIIG-Italian Association of Geography Teachers.
In 2022 she was appointed a member of the Commission for the knowledge and study of geography in schools, set up at the Ministry of Education.
In July 2022 she was elected as Area 11 councilor at the National University Council-CUN.
