Curriculum vitae

Born in Imola (BO) on 28/11/1972, graduated in Physics in 1995/96 with full votes.

After having studied the main themes of modern Theoretical Physics during my university studies, I became interested in biophysical modeling topics, starting with the Doctorate in Physics (2001).

The main research interests are

- application of Network Theory to complex systems in biology and social media: Systems Medicine, Nervous System, Immune System, 3D structure of DNA and proteins, Twitter infodemics;

- development and application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms for data analysis in the biological, epidemiological and medical fields: multi omic data (transcriptomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, metagenomics, 3d DNA structure, protein sequences), biomedical imaging (RX, NMR , PET), text mining (EHR)

- study of the biological effects of electromagnetic fields (ELF, RW, IR) with genomic techniques (gene expression, DNA methylation), microscopy and electrophysiology Patch Clamp

I have collaborated in various national and regional (PRIN, AIL, FIN-RER, Finalized Research, Start Cup, High Skills) and international projects (EU projects from FP6 to Horizon Europe).

Since 2019 I am FUll Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Bologna.
