Curriculum vitae

Professor Carlo Rasia is an Associated professor of Civil procedural law (SSD IUS/15) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna. He teaches Civil procedural law in the master’s degree in Bologna, where he also holds the course of Civil procedural law and French judicial system, Procedure law in the European Union. He previously thought Domestic and international arbitration.

Professor Carlo Rasia is an ordinary member of the Italian Association of scholars of civil procedure and an ordinary member of the International Association of Procedural Law.

Professor Carlo Rasia is lecturer in national and international congresses and he teaches in several courses, including University master’s course, PhD programmes and courses organized by many Professional Association.

In 2015 he won the famous international price named ‘Cappelletti Prize’ for his first monography ‘Tutela giudiziale europea e arbitrato’, BUP, Bologna, 2010. This recognition is bestowed by the International Association of Procedural Law at young scholars for the best book of Civil procedural law.

In 2017 he was awarded with the price ‘Enrico Redenti’ for the best Italian book of civil procedure. The book awarded is ‘La crisi della motivazione nel processo civile’, BUP, Bologna 2016.

He works in the field of Civil procedure, European civil procedure and Arbitration. He is also the author of four monographs and over 80 scientific publications in Italian, English, French and Spanish, among which we can find Rasia, ‘European Civil Procedure’, Wolters Kluwer International, Alphen aan den Rijn, NL, 2022.

He is a lawyer, practicing in Bologna and Venice. He is qualified to practice before the Supreme Court of Cassation and the High Courts.

He is a member of the "Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport presso il CONI" (Sport Disciplinary Board of CONI).

 

Academic background:

2001: graduated cum laude at the University of Bologna- Faculty of Law discussing a thesis in European Procedural Law with prof. Paolo Biavati.

Since 2002: assistant professor in Civil Procedural Law, EU Procedural Law and Arbitration Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Udine (2002-2005) and at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna (2002-).

2008: Ph.d in Civil Procedural Law at the University of Bologna with a stage at the University of Pantheon-Sorbonne and at the Icc-International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

2008-2010: Post-doctorate in Law Department at the University of Bologna.

2008-2010: Professor of Private International Law and International Arbitration within the Master for International Lawyers in Bologna.

2009-2011: Charged of the teaching within the course on International and Domestic Arbitration Law in the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna.

2012-2015: Charged of European Procedural Law in the School of Law of the University of Bologna

2012-: Charged of Domestic and International Arbitration Law in the School of Law of the University of Bologna.

2016-: Charged of Civil procedural Law in the School of Law of the University of Bologna.

2018-: Associate Professor of Civil Procedural Law in the School of Law of the University of Bologna.
