5. RESEARCH NETWORKS
(i) The History and Translation Network
I am co-founder and co-coordinator, together with Pekka Kujamäki (University of Graz), of the History and Translation Network, an international network of translation and interpreting historians that was launched in June 2021 (historyandtranslation.net).

(ii) Società italiana di traduttologia
I am on the Scientific Committee of the Società italiana di traduttologia (www.societatraduttologia.it).

6. RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FUNDING
2010-2012: I designed and procured private funding for a research project at the University of Bologna into Quality Standards in Italian Television Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The research fellow was Irene Frosi. The project was funded by Colby Srl of Milan (www.sdhproject.net).

2004-06: I obtained funding from the University of Bologna for a 2-year research fellowship on Subtitling in Italy and parameters of Quality in Subtitling, which I coordinated (www.subtitleproject.net). The research fellow was Elena Di Giovanni.

7. TEACHING AND THESIS SUPERVISION
(i) In Italy
I have taught regularly as a tenured lecturer since 1999, first at the University of Genova and then at the University of Bologna. I have taught the following courses at both under and post graduate level:
- Translation from Italian into English
- Subtitling
- Translation theory

During this period I have supervised, or co-supervised, approximately 100 dissertations.

In the years 2003, 2009, 2010, 2012, I was the coordinator of the module on Subtitling for the Masters in Audiovisual Translation of the Department of Interpreting and Translation, University of Bologna.

(ii) Abroad
Since 2008 - University of Manchester, UK: as Honorary Research Fellow I have supervised 23 MA dissertations and co-supervised 1 PhD dissertation.

2017 - Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar: as Visiting professor I taught two courses on the use of CAT Tools.

2014 - Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar: as Visiting professor I taught two courses on Subtitling and on the use of CAT Tools.

2006-07 - University of Manchester, UK: as Visting lecturer I taught courses on Translation from Italian into English, Subtitling, and Italian literature.

23-27 July 2012: convened and chaired a "Roundtable on Theories and Methodologies of Translation History" at the 2012 IATIS Conference, Queens University, Belfast, UK.

14 September 2011: was member of the organizing committee of the international conference "Saperi che servono. La ricerca umanistica e sociale in un’età di riforme", at the University of Bologna, Italy.

29 April – 2 May 2011: convened and chaired a panel at the international conference Research Models in Translation Studies II, University of Manchester.

8 April 2005: convened and chaired, together with Kate Sturge, the one-day colloquium Translation in Fascist Systems: Italy, Germany and Spain which was held at the University of Bologna, Forlì Campus.
