Bruno Riccio (Laurea Politics Bologna; MA D.Phil Social Anthropology Sussex) is full Professor of Cultural Anthropology and the director of the research center MODI (Mobility Diversity social Inclusion) at the Department of Education Studies of the University of Bologna where he teaches Anthropology and Ethnography of Social and Educational Services for undergraduate programmes and Anthropology of Migration for postgraduate programmes. He has undertaken ethnographic research in Senegal, Italy and, to a minor extent, Cambodia. In 2014-2015 he was visiting Professor at the URMIS (Unité de Recherches Migrations et Société), Université de Paris 7 Diderot, in 2019-2020 at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, Senegal and in 2024-2025 at the School of Global Studies of the University of Sussex. He is co-founder of the Italian Society of Applied Anthropology (SIAA) co-editor of the series "migrazioni" published by CISU and director of the Anthropological section of the series Interculture published by Junior. Since 2014 he belongs to the teaching board of the doctoral program in Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Milan "Bicocca". From 2018 to 2023 he has been the director of the MA program Education for the reception and inclusion of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees. His research interests include West African transnational migration, co-development, citizenship, mobilities, diversity, migration policies, Italian multiculturalism and racism. He belongs to the advisory board of African Diaspora, Antropologia, ANUAC and Educazione Interculturale, the editorial board of the Anthropological Journal of European Cultures, Etnografia e Ricerca Qualitativa, Mondi Migranti and afriche e orienti. He has published numerous articles in Italian (Africa e Mediterraneo, EtnoAntropologia, Confronto, Afriche e Orienti, Parolechiave, La Ricerca Folklorica, Lares, l'UomoAntropologia Pubblica, Educazione Interculturale, Etnografia e Ricerca Qualitativa, Rivista Italiana di Educazione Familiare, Archivio Antropologico Mediterraneo, Antropologia, ANUAC) and international (Modern Italy, Anthropological Journal on European Cultures, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Population Space and Place, Vienna Journal of African Studies, Cahiers d'études africaines, Journal of Modern Italian Studies, African Diaspora, Migrations Société, Urban Anthropology, New Diversities, Revue Européenne des Migrations Internationales, Comparative Migration Studies, Africa Today) journals together with chapters in edited books. He is the editor of volumes and journal issues (two for Mondi Migranti and Antropologia Pubblica, four for afriche e orienti and one for New Diversities).
