Important guidelines for students interested in writing their thesis under the supervision of Prof. Fiori

Important guidelines for students who wish to write their thesis under the supervision of Prof. Fiori

  1. Preliminary Meeting:

    • Students are required to schedule a preliminary meeting with Prof. Fiori at least 8 months prior to the graduation session.

  2. Selecting and Presenting the Thesis Topic:

    • The student must select the topic and clearly present it to Prof. Fiori.

    • To be considered, students must also submit a general abstract (approximately 300 words) and a concise summary (a few lines) of each chapter (typically between 3 and 4 chapters) that will make up the thesis.

    • Students should compile the bibliography using resources such as Google Scholar and other similar tools, as well as by visiting libraries.

  3. Bibliography Guidelines:

    • Students are free to choose any citation style they prefer, but it must be consistent throughout the dissertation. However, the APA system is highly preferred.

  4. Chapter Submission:

    • Only completed and revised chapters should be submitted.

    • Spelling, syntactic, or grammatical mistakes will not be tolerated, and the draft will be immediately returned. Please ensure everything is double-checked before submission!

  5. Graduation Request:

    • The graduation request (“domanda di laurea”) will only be approved if at least 80 percent of the dissertation has been submitted and received positive feedback.

    • Submitting the majority of the dissertation just before the “domanda di laurea” deadline is absolutely not acceptable!

  6. Communication with Prof. Fiori:

    • Students are welcome to visit the Professor during office hours or contact him via email.

    • Sending emails requesting detailed feedback – perhaps 7-10 days after submitting a chapter – is certainly the best way to end up having to look for a new supervisor. Emails of that nature are not accepted. All students writing their thesis under my supervision are carefully followed throughout all stages of the writing process, but they must, of course, respect my work and my bust schedule.

    •  Emails containing only attachments (without any text) will not be considered. Please ensure that you include a short message in your email and maintain politeness in your communication.
