Curriculum vitae

Associate Professor at the University of Bologna (Department of Political and Social Sciences) since October 2014, he carries out his research in the field of international relations of Asia. Research interests are aimed in particular at inter-Korean relations, the foreign policy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China.

Education:

Graduated cum laude in 1997 in Modern Asian Languages and Literatures from L'Orientale di Napoli, he obtained a PhD in Political Science - Comparative Analysis of Democracies from the University of Pavia in 2006.

Academic career:

After completing his post-doctorate (2006-2008) at the University of Bologna, he became Adjunct Professor (2008-2013) on the Korea Foundation's Establishment of Professorship funding call. Following the achievement of the National Scientific Qualification he assumes the functions of associate professor at the University of Bologna starting from October 2014.

Teaching activity:

Since 2006 he has been continuously teaching as holder of various courses for degree programs and master's degrees for the School of Political Sciences of UNIBO.

He is currently professor of International Relations of East Asia for the Master's Degree Course in International Relations (Bologna campus), East Asia and the International System for the Master's Degree Course in International Politics and Economics and Security Policies in Asia for the Master's Degree Course in International and Diplomatic Sciences (Forlì campus).

Since 2011 he has been teaching continuously at several South Korean universities (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea University, Ewha Womans University, etc.).

Scientific activity:

He has participated in numerous national and international research programs. He is currently director of two Capacity Building projects. Key Action 2 in the field of Higher Education; the first entitled "Connecting Higher Education Institutions for a New Leadership on National Education (CHINLONE)" and the second "ENGAGE", both co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.

He was visiting fellow at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies of Seoul National University (2011); the East-West Center in Honolulu (2008); and the United International College in Zhuhai (2006).
Referee of international and Italian journals in the field of Asian studies.

Institutional activities and academic positions:

After having held the position of Coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in International Politics and Markets for two years, starting from 1 November 2020 he is Coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in International Politics and Economics.

In the period 2015-2021 he has been the Rector's Delegate for Asia and Oceania.

He is the President of the Asia Institute.
