Curriculum vitae

Associate Professor at the University of Bologna (Department of Political and Social Sciences) since October 2014, he conducts research in the field of international relations of Asia, with a particular focus on inter-Korean relations, the foreign policy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Education:

Graduating cum laude in 1997 in Modern Asian Languages and Literatures from L'Orientale (Napoli), he earned a PhD in Political Science - Comparative Analysis of Democracies from the University of Pavia in 2006.

Academic career:

After completing his post-doctorate (2006-2008) at the University of Bologna, he became Adjunct Professor (2008-2013) under the Korea Foundation's Establishment of Professorship funding program. Following the achievement of the National Scientific Qualification, he assumed the role of associate professor at the University of Bologna in October 2014.

Teaching activity:

Since 2006, he has taught continuously, holding various courses for both undergraduate and master's degree programs at the School of Political Sciences at UNIBO.

He currently teaches International Relations of East Asia for the Master's Degree in International Relations (Bologna campus), while East Asia and the International System and Security Policies in Asia for the Master's Degree Course in International and Diplomatic Sciences (Forlì campus).

Since 2011 he has taught regularly at several South Korean universities, including Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Ewha Womans University, and Korea University.

Scientific activity:

He has participated in numerous national and international research programs and was the Principal Investigator of two Capacity Building projects. Key Action 2 in the field of Higher Education. These projects were co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union and include:

He has also served as a visiting fellow at prestigious institutions such as the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies at Seoul National University (2011), the East-West Center in Honolulu (2008), and the United International College in Zhuhai (2006).


He serves as a referee for both international and Italian journals specializing in Asian studies.

Institutional activities and academic positions:

  • He served as the Scientific Coordinator for the Master's Degree Courses in International Politics and Markets (two years) and International Politics and Economics (three years).

  • From 2015 to 2021, he held the role of Rector's Delegate for Asia and Oceania.

  • Since May 17th, 2024, he has been appointed the Delegate for Internationalization of the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
