Curriculum vitae

Full professor since 2019 and former Associate professor at the University of Bologna since 2014, A.F. carries out her research in the field of sustainable architecture and the criteria for transforming the built heritage according to environmentally sustainable procedures.

He has been carrying out research and teaching activities for years, both nationally and internationally, within the ICAR 10 disciplinary sector, with specific reference to the instances associated with sustainable design, urban regeneration, procedures and assessment tools performance of the built.

The aspects connected to the cost-benefit analysis of the renovation of the existing settlements are tackled in relation to the energy performance, to the quality of the buildings, to the technical feasibility of construction innovation.

The teaching activity and the field of international research related to European projects integrate each other, creating effective contaminations and positive synergies with the first and second level courses of the ICAR 10 sector, with specific reference to the subjects of Technical Architecture, Design Sustainable and Sustainable Building Design.

Training

Graduated in Architecture in 1988 at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence, he obtained a PhD at the University of Bologna (DAPT) IN BUILDING AND TERRITORIAL ENGINEERING achieved in 1996 with the final dissertation of the Thesis: "ENVIRONMENTAL COMPATIBILITY AND REGENERATION OF URBAN CONTEXTS: METHODOLOGIES OF SURVEY AND CRITERIA OF INTERVENTION ".

Academic career

After several years of contract teaching (from 1999 to 2005) for the University of Bologna, in 2006 A.F. became Researcher in the disciplinary sector ICAR10 Technical Architecture, at the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna, with reference to the Department of Architecture.

In 2013 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor.

From 15 September 2014 she is associate professor at the University of Bologna.

In 2017 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor.

From 15 September 2019 she is full professor at the University of Bologna.

Teaching activity

Since 2000 she has been continuously teaching as a holder of various courses for the Degree Courses and Master's Degree in Building Engineering and Architecture.

Currently Professor of Technical Architecture II for the Master of Science in Building Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna. Organizes and coordinates in-depth seminars on their own disciplines in European projects.

Scientific activity

A.F. coordinated and coordinates international research projects including: EU Project H2020 Pro-GET-onE: Proactive synergy of inteGrated Efficient Technologies on buildings ’Envelopes. Grant Agreement No 723747; European Project H2020 ABRACADABRA - Assistant Buildings' addition to Retrofit, Adopt, Cure And Develop the Actual Buildings up to zeRo energy, Activating a market for deep renovation. Grant Agreement n. 696126. 03/03/2016.

She is the coordinator for the University of Bologna of Horizon 2020 projects: TripleA-reno Attractive, Acceptable and Affordable deep Renovation by consumers oriented and evidence based approach performance, and DRIVE 0- Driving decarbonization of the EU building stock by enhancing to consumer centered and locally based circular renovation process.

Institutional activities and academic assignments

Between 2011 and 2013 she was President of the Graduate Internship and Thesis Commission of the Degree Course in Building Engineering and Architecture for the reference years 2011, 2012, 2013.

Since 2010 she participates in the teaching body in the PhD in Architecture of the University of Bologna in the XXIII XXVI, XXVII, XXVIII, XXIX, XXX, XXXI, XXXI, XXXII, XXXIII cycles.

Member of the Energy Board of the University of Bologna, RUS, Italian Network for University Sustainability.

Membership of scientific and editorial committees

From 2017 she is associate editor of Energy Report, Elsevier. Reviewers in scientific journals: Solar Energy, Energy and Buildings, Sustainable Cities and Societies (Elsevier), Advances in Energy Building Research (Tailor and Francis), Buildings. 01/01/2003. 1st Guest Editor in the journal Energy and Building - Special Issue in Nearly Zero Energy in Existing Buildings.

Prizes and awards

In 1996 she obtained the post-graduate full grant in the Athens CIENE (Prof. Santamouris) in: Advanced Training Course on Passive Cooling Techniques (funded by EU in the TMR Program). Between 1996 and 2004 she took part in numerous architectural competitions, winning prizes and mentions.
