Curriculum vitae

Since 10 October 2022, Andrea Benedetti has been a Type B Fixed term Researcher for the Courses “Translation from German into Italian I (First Language)” and “German Language and Culture III (First Language)” (L-LIN/14) at the University of Bologna (Department of Interpreting and Translation [DIT], Forlì Campus). His research activity evolves around Translation Theory and Practice, specifically the literary field. He has also gained proven experience as a technical translator, both with reference to the lexicographic and terminological translation practices of UE institutions, and as a freelance translator for private companies. The current focus of his research is on the relationship between translation practice, cognitive processes and teaching methodologies, especially the most recent aesthetic-linguistic (in particular the neuro-linguistic and neuro-literary approach) and pragmatic-linguistic (in particular the Deconstructionist and Universalist approaches) critical findings.

 

EDUCATION

 

In 1999 he graduates in Modern Language and Literature, BA, University of Urbino Carlo Bo with a Thesis entitled “Ernst Jünger: «In Stahlgewittern» 1920 – 1924. Testo e processo storico” (“Ernst Jünger: «In Stahlgewittern» 1920 – 1924. Text and Historical Process”). In 2005 he earns his first PhD in “Modern Foreign Languages” (German), University of Pisa with a Thesis on “Rivoluzione conservatrice e ambiguità della tecnica. Ernst Jünger nella Germania weimariana: 1920 – 1932 (“Conservative Revolution and the Ambiguous Fascination of Technology. Ernst Jünger in Weimar Germany: 1920 – 1932”). In 2014 he passes the (Italian) National Academic Qualification (Abilitazione scientifica nazionale – ASN) as Associate Professor in the Academic Recruitment Field 10/M1 (Germanic Languages, Literatures and Cultures). In 2019 he earns his second PhD in “Human Studies” (German), University of Urbino Carlo Bo with a Thesis entitled “Tra parola e immagine: una rilettura dei Reiseberichte (1793) di Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder alla luce della circolarità ermeneutica” (Between Word and Image: A Reinterpretation of Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder’s Reiseberichte (1793) in the Light of Hermeneutic Circularity”).
