Alessandra De Cesare is an Associate Professor in Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin (MVET-02B) at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences. She is a member of a pool of experts of the panel BIOHAZ of EFSA and is Editor in Chief of the Italian Journal of Food Safety.
Her research activity focuses on concern the study of microbiomes in food systems to prevent pathogen colonisation; the evaluation and development of food safety criteria based on risk assessment; the genotypic caharecterisation of microorganisms responsible for foodborne diseases.
