My principal research fields include: 1. Emerging Viral Infections; 2. Health technology assessment for Fast Microbiology; 3. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR); 4. Environmental Viral Inactivation.

1.The ongoing COVID19 pandemic  prompted my research group to enlarge our study to SARS CoV-2. In detail we are evaluating the COVID19 epidemiology with special interest on SARS CoV-2 variants (as detected by Whole Genome Sequencing and bioinformatic analysis) and group testing to increase  the diagnostic capacities without raising its cost. In addition the research is also evaluating the molecular mechanisms of Variant development and new diagnostic techniques.

2. In the filed of FAST MICROBIOLOGY we are studying different new techniques based on Artificial Intelligence and molecular based assays.

3. AMR is increasing worldwide generating difficulties to  treat  many infections. Our studies in this field include the molecular mechanims of AMR, epidemiology of AMR and the deveopment of new and fast diagnostic methods. In addition the potential of new molecule is also under investigation.

4. New inactivation methods for viruses is currently includin Cold Atmospehric Plasma  (CAP) and other chemical  technologies.
