HOW TO REQUEST SUPERVISION FOR FINAL THESIS
THESIS REQUEST FOR FAST STUDENTS – GENERAL RULES
To request thesis supervision, you must have taken with me the exam related to the subject area in which you intend to write your thesis.
I do not accept thesis proposals submitted less than 8 months in advance for Master’s degree theses and 5 months in advance for Bachelor’s degree theses with respect to the intended graduation session.
For students who have already agreed on a thesis topic: it is essential that you keep me regularly informed about the progress of your work. For example, if you miss your planned graduation session without informing me of the reasons for the delay, I reserve the right to withdraw my availability as your supervisor.
WHAT TO DO TO REQUEST A THESIS
1. Read carefully the Dissertation Handbook
2. Possibly attend the Dissertation Seminar organized by FAST
3. Prepare a proposal according to the guidelines explained in the Dissertation Handbook. The thesis proposal document, which you prepare independently, will serve as the starting point and will be discussed during an office-hour meeting scheduled after your email has been received.
Send the proposal
The document containing the thesis proposal must be sent by email as an attachment (no cloud links). In the email, you must also specify:
- which degree programme you are enrolled in;
- which of my exams you have taken;
- in which graduation session you intend to graduate.
If the proposal falls within my areas of expertise and follows the rules indicated above, we will arrange a meeting to discuss it. My areas of expertise are reflected in the subjects I teach, my CV, and the research topics mentioned on this page. Please make sure to develop a thesis proposal that is consistent with the courses I teach and that you have taken.
USEFUL ADVICE
The preparation of the abstract, outline, and preliminary bibliography should be taken seriously, as these are the first elements on which your thesis work will be built and, if done well, they will make the writing process easier. For this reason, they should result from careful reflection and thorough, unhurried research.
You may be tempted to use AI for this work. I have no prejudice against it, and the use of AI is acceptable; however, before doing so, you must read this page carefully and critically review everything produced with the help of AI.
It is also important that the content of the document is formally correct. For this reason, you should already begin to follow the editorial guidelines publishedin the Dissertation Handbook
