Valentina Ciriello has been a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Bologna since 2019. Her research interests include model reduction and uncertainty quantification in fluid mechanics and hydrology. She is the Principal Investigator of a PRIN 2022 research project focused on predictive forecasting and risk assessment for CO2 transport in pipelines. She also served as the local coordinator of the PRIN 2017 project on fluid dynamics for the prediction of cardiovascular diseases and of the Horizon 2020 project CLARA on climate forecasting. She has been appointed Anneliese Niethammer Lecturer at the University of Stuttgart for 2026. She is the Chair of the Conference on Computational Methods in Water Resources (CMWR) 2026. She is an Associate Editor of Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment (Springer), Journal of Hydrology (Elsevier), Journal of Machine Learning for Modeling and Computing (Begell House), and ARC Geophysical Research.
