Curriculum vitae

Her area of teaching and research is the history of the Middle Ages. The main research interests concern the social and political structures of the medieval communities. Currently focuses her research on the structures of kinship and their forms of representation in the early medieval centuries and on the role of women and their capacity for political and patrimonial action. She also deals with territorial organization and the relationship between local communities and central powers from VI to XII century.

Education

She graduated in Modern Letters in 1990 at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Bologna. She obtained her PhD in Medieval History at the University of Turin (VI cycle).

She graduated at Archivist School and obtained a qualification to teach Italian and History in secondary institutions of education. She has for several years carried out free professional activity.

Academic career
She obtained a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Paleography and Medieval Studies at the University of Bologna (July 1996 - June 1998) and in 1998 became lecturer in Medieval History at the Faculty of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna, based in Ravenna.
Since December 2005 she pertains to the Faculty of Humanities, based in Bologna.

In March 2013 she achieves the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor. Since September 2014, she is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna.

In July 2017 she achieves the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor. Since december 2022, she is Full Professor at the University of Bologna where she’s a member of the Department of History, Culture and Civilization of the same university.

Teaching activity
Since 1999 she teached continuously several courses for undergraduated and master degree of the School of Humanities and Culture.
She currently teaches Social History of the Middle Ages and History of Women and Gender in the Middle Ages for the undergraduate course in History at the University of Bologna and History of medieval Europe for Master Degree Course in Italian Studies and History.

Scientific activities

She has participated in several national research programs and she is a member of the CRISM (Centre for Research on Institutions and Society in the Middle Ages) and belongs to the Scientific Committee of the SAAME (Inter-University Centre for the History and Archaeology of the Middle Ages).

Referee of Italian and international journals in the field of Medieval History.

Institutional activities and academic assignments

From 1999 she was a member of the Teaching Board of the PhD in Medieval History, then in History and even in History Culture and Civilization of the University of Bologna. Currently, she is a member of the Teaching Board of the PhD in History and Archeology. Memory, Civilization and Cultural Heritage at the University of Bologna.
Since 2011 to 2016, she was a member of the Admission Board of the Collegio Superiore of the University of Bologna.

Since 2016-2017 she is a Tutor of the "Collegio Superiore" and member of the Scientific Board.

Since May 2017 she is a member of the Board "Valutazione della Ricerca di Ateneo" (VRA).

Since June 2017 she is an elective member of the Scientific Board of "Istituto di Studi Superiori" (ISS) of the University of Bologna.

Membership in scientific and editorial boards
Already editor of Reti Medievali, www.retimedievali.it, (2005-2011), currently correspondent editor of the same initiative.
Since January 2010 editor of the journal Storicamente, http://www.storicamente.org/, and since the June 2011 Associate Editor, together with Marica Tolomelli (Editor).
Since June 2010, member of the Scientific Committee of the Series Sui-Generis of SIS, published by Viella, Rome.

Other activities

Since May 2015 she is elected member of the Executive of SISMED (Italian Historical Society of medievalists).
