Curriculum vitae

Susanna Vezzadini graduated in 1998 in the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Bologna; her final dissertation was about "The Reconstruction of Identity in Italian Victims of Terrorism" (110/110 cum laude). In 2002 she earned her Ph.D. in "Criminology, victimology, sociology of deviance and social security" discussing the final thysis again at the University of Bologna on "The Role of Mediation between Victim and Offender: a Comparison among American, French and Italian Ways". During the time of Ph.D., she spent some months at American University of Washington D.C. - USA, thanks to the exchange cooperative project between USA and EU on "The Globalization of Crime and the Justice Response: A Curriculum for Internationale Crime".
Since 2004 she is researcher in "Sociology of deviance, sociology of law and criminology" in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna. She is assistant professor of Victimology in the School of Political Sciences in Forlì - University of Bologna. She is member of the Ph.D. in Sociology, University of Bologna. In 2012 she has been visiting professor at American University in Washington, D.C. (USA)
She is contact person for the Erasmus exchange between the University of Bologna and the ULB - Université Libre de Bruxelles, and the University of Salamanca, Spain, for criminological and sociology of deviance related topics. She is also contact person for the faculty of Political Sciences in the guarantee of the right to study for convicted people.
She is social mediator for conflicts for the Italian Center for Mediation, and has served as G.O. (special judge) for the Juvenile Criminal Court in Bologna for six years (2008-2013). Since 2009 she works along with the Italian Observatory of the Ministery of Justice on Rehabilitative programs for convicted people, and in the last years she has occasionally worked for Regione Emilia Romagna -Public and Security policies Sector, and Ombudsman Office. She is in the scientific board for the Istituto per la storia della Resistenza e dell'età contemporanea in Forlì-Cesena.
She is member of national and international associations such as: Associazione Italiana di Sociologia (A.I.S.), Società Italiana di Criminologia (S.I.C.), Associazione Italiana dei Magistrati per i Minorenni e per la Famiglia (A.I.M.M.F.), World Society of Victimology (WSV), Societé Internationale de Criminologie (S.I.C.), European Society for Criminology (ESC), European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ).
