Short Bio

Associate Professor of Physiology at the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences, University of Bologna, since 2023, she conducts research in the fields of developmental neuroscience and the pathophysiology of the nervous system. Her scientific interests focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying rare neurodevelopmental disorders, with particular emphasis on CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder (CDD) and Down syndrome.

Her research is aimed at identifying and validating innovative therapeutic strategies, including pharmacological, gene therapy, and protein replacement approaches, with the goal of restoring brain development and cognitive function in experimental disease models.

She is involved in national and international research projects funded by public and private institutions and collaborates with research groups and scientific organizations across Europe and the United States.

She is the author of more than forty publications in international peer-reviewed journals and holds patents in the field of innovative therapies for rare neurodevelopmental disorders.
