Simone Vincenzo Suraci was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1993. He received his B. Sc. Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Reggio Calabria in 2015 and his M.Sc. degree in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2017.
From 2017 to 2020, he was PhD student in the framework of a co-tutorship between the University of Bologna (Electrical Engineering) and the Ecole National Arts et Metiers in Paris (Sciences des Métiers de l'Ingénieur - Mécanique), inside the H2020 TeaM Cables Project. PhD Thesis title: "Aging assessment of polyethylene-based insulated low-voltage cables for nuclear applications".
In the period November 2020-January 2023, he has been a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi". Research Project: "Aging Modelling of Nuclear Power Plant cables".
Since January 2023, he has been Junior Assistant Professor. Project title: "Development of innovative insulation systems and advanced diagnostic methodologies for HVDC cables".
In December 2023, he got the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor.

He has been member of both IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and DEIS (Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society) since 2017. He is currently acting as member of the Education Committee of DEIS and he is also Chair of DEIS Italian Chapter.
Awardee of the IEEE DEIS Caixin Sun and Stan Grzybowski Award - Young-Professional Achievement Award "for contribution to dielectric and electrical insulation technologies and their aging in severly damaging environments" (August 2024).
