FERMANI Simona, since December 2010, is assistant professor in
Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician”,
University of Bologna.
She is co-author of 45 publications in peer-reviewed journals
(average IF 4,65, h-index 16 from web of science).
Education:
- “Laurea” degree in Chemistry (December 15, 1995) at the
University of Bologna. Thesis title: “Asymmetric catalysis with
complexes of Ti (IV) and Zr (IV): new perspectives and
developments"
- PhD in Chemistry (February 20, 2000) at the University of
Bologna. Thesis title “Protein crystallography. Structure of
chloroplast glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase”.
In the period 2000-2005 she has a post-doctoral position in the
project “Crystal growth on polymeric matrices” responsible Prof. A.
Ripamonti at the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician”, University
of Bologna.
In the period 2005-2008 she had a post-doctoral position in a
FIRB project, title “CP12 an intrinsically disordered plant protein
involved in the formation of supramolecular complexes”, working at
the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician”, University of
Bologna.
In the period 2008-2010, she worked in a multinational company
(Nexans), continuing an active collaboration with the research
group at the university.
Periods abroad:
- june-december 1998 and october-december 2000 in structural
biology laboratory of Prof. T. Blundel, Biochemistry Department,
Univesity of Cambridge (UK), working on the crystalline structure
resolution of the protein fragment NK1 and of a DNA tetraplex.
- July 2003 in the laboratory of Prof. J.
Moradian-Oldak, Center for Cranofacial Molecular Biology, School of
Dentistry, University of Southem California, working on the
structural study of amelogenins, protein family involved in enamel
formation.
