Research Interest

The general area of investigation looks at film culture, memory culture and celebrity culture in the North-American and European arena of media consumption and production. Particular attention is being paid to the history of film stardom and to the history of acting methods, including the role of costume design in supporting expression and narrative, as well as the expansion of alternative forms of fame and public self-presentation in the past and present mediascape. These include the phenomena of self-branding imbued in fashion culture and supported by fashion industry, and a variety of constructions of personalities and forms of influence on the wider public based on networking, social media and audio-visual content.
