Rossella Ghigi is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Education Sciences "G.M. Bertin" at the University of Bologna. She is qualified for the position of Full Professor in the field 14/C1 - Sociology - Italian ASN). After earning a degree in Political Science from the University of Milan, she completed a DEA in History and Civilizations at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento. She is part of the faculty board for the Ph.D. program in Sociology and Social Research Methodology at the University of Milan-Turin. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. Ghigi has published articles in national and international journals and is the author of monographs, editor of books, and special issues of journals. Her research focuses on gender role socialization and education, body modification practices, feminist theory, intersectional inequalities, and access to reproductive rights.
