Rossella Ghigi has a Phd in Sociology and Social Research from the University of Trento. She is an associate professor in Sociology at the Department of Education of the University of Bologna. She is member of the teaching board of the PhD programme in Sociology and Methodology of the Social Research at the University of Milan, open to international students.
She teaches in 2nd and 3rd cycle courses. She published in national and international journals and collective volumes. She is the Author of three monographic works and the editor (or co-editor) of three collective volumes. She currently conducts research on socialisation to gender roles and its principal implications in terms of discrimination, stereotypes and inequalities. She is an experienced researcher on body modification practices such as cosmetic surgery and body art; feminist theory; gender inequalities and women’s social and political participation.
