Roberto Amici

Roberto Amici is Associate Professor of Physiology at the University of Bologna, where he is teacher and tutor at the School of Medicine and at the PhD Program in Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences (DIBINEM).

He is Director of the Professional Master's Programme in “Sleep Medicine”, and coordinator of the "Scientific Committee" of DIBINEM. He is member of the "Equal Committee" of the School of Medicine and of the "Technical-Pedagogical Council" of the Degree Programme in "Medicina e Chirurgia".

Research activity is aimed at studying physiological regulation during the different wake-sleep states and during torpor/hibernation, the relationship between sleep and the environment, and the central nervous control of the thermoregulatory/metabolic and autonomic functions.

He is member of the "Advisory Committee" of the “European Sleep Research Society” (ESRS).  Formerly, he was President of the "Italian Society of Sleep Research" (SIRS), Vice-President of the ESRS, and Coordinator of "Basic Research" and of the "Research Committee" of the “Italian Association of Sleep Medicine” (AIMS).
