Curriculum vitae

Fixed-term researcher (A) at the University of Bologna since 15.07.2021, he carries out his research in the field of medieval and humanistic Latin literature. His research interests focus on Middle-Latin religious literature, especially the hagiographic and liturgical ones, to biography and the various literary expressions of the monastic world. He is currently involved in a research project on lost and anonymous works in medieval Latin literature.

EDUCATION

Graduated in 1998 at the University of Florence, in 2002 he obtained a PhD in Hagiography by the University of Rome2 Tor Vergata, in 2012 he was awarded a PhD in Medieval History by the University of Florence.

ACADEMIC CAREER

He obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for the competition sector 11 / A1-Medieval History (valid from 03.12.2013 to 03.12.2022) and the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for the competition sector 10 / E1- Philologies and Middle-Latin and Romance literature (valid from 07.01.2014 to 07.01.2023). He obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for the competition sector 10 / E1- Philologies and Middle-Latin and Romance literature (valid from 28/03/2023 to 28/03/2034).

TEACHING ACTIVITY

He was a Subject Expert at the University of Siena - Arezzo seat from 2006 to 2009, holding lectures and seminars for the chair of Medieval and Humanistic Latin Philology. He has carried out occasional teaching activities at the University of Siena - Arezzo seat (2004, 2010), the Theological Institute of Assisi (2008), the Institute of Religious Sciences "Gregorio X" of Arezzo (2012), the Doctoral School in Medieval Philology and Latin Literature of SISMEL in Florence (2015, 2020).

He held the following university courses:
- "Latin Language and Literature 2" course at the Alma mater studiorum - University of Bologna, LILEC Department (Area: Languages and Literature, Translation and Interpretation; SSD: L-FIL-LET/04; Master’s Degree in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners)30 hours, from 30/03/2022 to 06/05/2022.
- Lectures at the seminar "I luoghi del testo medievale e proto-moderno", at the Alma mater studiorum - University of Bologna (seminar n. 91898), responsible prof. A. Zironi, 4 hours, from 11.04.22 to 02.05.22.
- Lectures at the "Advanced Course in Medieval Latin Philology and Literature" of SISMEL-Fondazione Franceschini, Florence, 15.01.2015, 08.10.2020, 08.11.2022.
- Course of "Medieval Latin Hagiography and Biography" at the Alma Mater, FICLIT department, 30 hours, from 31/01/2023 to 10/03/2023.
- Course of "Medieval Latin Hagiography and Biography" at the Alma Mater, FICLIT department, 30 hours, from 30/01/2024 to 07.03.2024.
- He was co-supervisor of master’s thesis in Medieval Latin Philology, in Medieval History, in History and Culture of the Latin text of the Middle Ages.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

He participated in the research project “BIbliotheca Scriptorum LAtinorum Medii aevi” (BISLAM) of SISMEL in Florence from 1998 to 1999.

He obtained funding from the National Research Council as part of the "Research Promotion 2004 - Youth Project" project, with the scientific and logistical support of SISMEL in Florence.

He participated in the "European Culture Program 2007-2013", for the creation of the Latin writers of medieval Europe series, scientific coordinator prof. F. Stella.

He participated in the "ROME" research project of SISMEL in Florence from 2019 to 2020.

He was commissioned by the National Edition of the Franciscan Sources to produce the critical edition of the Dialogus de gestis sanctorum fratrum Minorum and the Catalogs of Franciscan saints (work in progress).

He works as a referee for journals of literature and medieval history studies.

He participates since September 2021 in the project "FISR 2019/OPA. Lost and anonymous works from the third to the fifteenth century", Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna - SISMEL (study and publication of anonymous texts, implementation of the SISMEL database of anonymous texts of the Latin Middle Ages).

MEMBERSHIP OF SCIENTIFIC AND EDITORIAL COMMITTEES

Since 2001 he has been a member of the editorial board for the journal «Notizie di Storia» of the Aretina Historical Society.

Since 2002, he has been a member of the editorial board for the SISMEL-Edizioni del Galluzzo journal "Hagiographica".

Since 2015, he has been a member of the scientific committee of the “Castellana Ecclesia” series, Diocese of Città di Castello.

Since 2018, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journal "Acts and Memories of the Petrarch Academy of Arts and Sciences in Arezzo ".

AWARDS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

On 12.6.2001 he obtained the "Ezio Franceschini" award from the Ezio Franceschini Foundation for the best thesis on Middle Latin culture, 11th edition, for graduates in the academic year 1997-1998.

He obtained the exemption from military service obligations according to the Decree-Law 16 September 1999, n. 324, art. 2 paragraph b ("Carrying out of scientific, artistic, cultural activities, with the acquisition of particular merits in the national or international field"), by letter dated 31.05.2001 from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - National Office for the civil service (Rome).
