Curriculum vitae

Paula Marqués Hernández (Valencia, 1993) is a Docente a Contratto of Catalan Language and Catalan Literature at the University of Bologna. She has taught and collaborated at several universities, including Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2017–2025), the University of Verona (2017–2018), and the University for Foreigners of Siena (2023).

She holds a degree in Catalan Philology with a specialization in Italian Studies (2016) from the University of Valencia and a Master’s Degree in the Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities, with a track in Gender and Identity (2017), from the University of Barcelona. She has also attended various courses in publishing translation, which led her to work as a translator, and she is currently enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Barcelona. Specializing in twentieth- and twenty-first-century studies, she is writing her doctoral dissertation on subaltern maternities and non-maternities in Catalan literature, from a comparative perspective with other literatures (Italian, Hispanic).

She is a certified DELE Spanish examiner and collaborates in the organization of official CLE certifications issued by the Institut Ramon Llull. In the publishing field, she works with several Italian and Catalan publishing houses, mainly in literary translation.

She has organized numerous cultural activities as well as study days, seminars, and conferences, both at Ca’ Foscari and externally. She also collaborates with literary journals such as Caràcters and Visat. Among other works, she has published essays on contemporary Catalan narrative, focusing on questions of body and gender, and on maternities.

She has been a member of the board of directors of the Associació de Joves Investigadors en Llengua i Literatura Catalanes (AJILLC) and serves as Communication Delegate for the Associazione Italiana di Studi Catalani (AISC). She has also been a member of the Societat de Recerca i Ensenyament del Català com a Llengua Estrangera (SERCLE).

She translated the novel Volovia by Antonio Ferrara for a Catalan publishing house and the poetry anthology Il settimo sestiere by Pilar Solé for a Sicilian publisher.
