Paola Galetti started from an initial interest for the history of historiography on the Middle Ages (which was also rediscovered in recent essays), and she developed a specifical knowledge of  paleography. Afterwards, she studied different aspects of the economic and social history of Italy and Europe during the Middle Ages. In particular, she investigated the transformation of rural and urban settlement, of medieval buildings and of commerce and industry facilities.The investigation methodology focuses on the use of comparative method and on an interdisciplinary work, in particular with archaeologist.

She has been a Member of the Doctoral School in "Medieval History", "History", "History Culture Civilisation". She as a Member of the Doctoral School in " History and Archaeology. Memory, Civilisation and Heritage".
