Paola Cordera's research lies at the intersection of art history, the decorative arts, and cultural heritage, examining how objects, collections, and exhibitions shape historical narratives. Her path has been enriched by her involvement on the board of ICOM Design, where she serves as Secretary, as well as by several international grants and fellowships that have allowed her to build an international professional network. Her studies address the historical trajectories, material practices, and cultural reception of artworks and objects from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, exploring in particular (re)production, industrialization, the history of taste, the art market, and exhibition strategies. Grounded in primary-source research, her work focuses on three main areas: collections of decorative arts, craftsmanship, and industry; their display strategies; and the cultural contexts in which they acquire meaning.
