Paola Cordera’s research lies at the intersection of art history, the decorative arts, and cultural heritage, examining how objects, collections, and exhibitions shape historical narratives. Enriched by experience gained through various projects as well as by international grants and fellowships, her work has expanded toward transdisciplinary themes and the development of a professional network of international scope. Her research addresses the historical trajectories, material practices, and cultural reception of artworks and objects from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, exploring themes such as (re)production, industrialization, the history of taste, the art market, and exhibition strategies. Grounded in primary-source research, her work focuses on three main areas: collections of decorative arts, craftsmanship, and industry; their display strategies (both permanent and temporary); and the broader cultural contexts in which they acquire meaning.
