Maria Letizia Guerra has been an associate professor at the Department of Statistical Sciences since 2005, conducting her research in the field of mathematical models under uncertainty.
EDUCATION
She graduated in Mathematics from the University of Bologna in 1991, earned her PhD from the University of Bergamo in 1997 in "Computational Methods for Financial Decisions and Forecasting," and spent study periods abroad at Paris VI and the Newton Institute in Cambridge.
ACADEMIC CAREER
From 1999 to 2005, she was a Researcher at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Urbino.
She holds the Full Professorship in the 13/D4 sector (February 5, 2014, and October 8, 2018).
TEACHING ACTIVITY
Since 2005, he has taught various courses in the scientific field of Mathematical Methods for Economic and Financial Applications; he teaches undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including international ones.
He conducts training activities on third mission topics, particularly on public engagement for CRUI, NETVAL, and other public administrations.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
In addition to his work initially published in the European Journal of Operational Research and the Journal of Banking and Finance, he has also published articles on the analysis of tools for modeling uncertainty based on fuzzy logic in Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Soft Computing, Information Sciences, the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning, as well as Axioms and Mathematics (open access). These contributions are regularly cited by the scientific community.
INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES AND ACADEMIC POSITIONS
Since 2021, she has been the Rector's Delegate for Public Engagement.
Since 2023, she has been a member of the University Quality Committee and coordinator of the PQA-Third Mission group.
Since 2024, she has been a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee for the Festival of Technical Culture, Metropolitan City of Bologna.
Since 2024, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of Social Innovation EcosystEm Development (SEED).
Since 2024, she has been the Rector's delegate on the Board of Directors of the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation.
Since 2022, she has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Urban Innovation Foundation, Municipality of Bologna.
Since 2022, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Association "Training and Initiative Center on Cooperation and Business Ethics – AlmaVicoo."
