In his research he has treated the following themes: social conflict in the countryside, violence in the postwar period (1945-1946), power struggles within the resistance movement. He achieved a synthesis on the history of Republican Italy and, within this period, he delved the strategy of tension (1965 - 1974), with particular attention to the relationship between information and terrorism.
From 2009 he directs Master in Historical Communication at the University of Bologna. For the publisher Unicopli he is in charge of
Comunicazione storica series. He directs the online review "Bibliomanie".
