Currently Associate Professor at the University of Bologna and a member of the ATLAS Collaboration, where I work on machine learning and HPC for the development of advanced deep learning models for the fast simulation of the ATLAS calorimeter (FastCaloSim and FastCaloGANtainer), and for jet tagging and anomaly detection applied to analyses ranging from top-quark and Higgs-boson measurements to searches for new physics involving heavy neutrinos, vector-like leptons, and matter candidates.
Since 2025, I have coordinated the Bologna unit of the QUART&T project on quantum computing, focusing on quantum-circuit demonstrators with superconducting qubits in resonant cavities.
I also work on the development of quantum algorithms, especially quantum machine learning (QML), applied to particle physics (HEP).
Within the FOOT Collaboration, I contributed to data analyses of nuclear fragmentation for hadron therapy and space radiation protection, implementing a Kalman-filter-based tracking system.
