Curriculum vitae

Massimo Baroncini got his laurea (cum laude) in chemistry at the University of Bologna in 2003, advisor Prof. Vincenzo Balzani, defending a thesis on the photophysical and electrochemical characterization of dendrimers based on viologens units developed in the laboratories of Prof. Fraser Stoddart at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). In the 2010 he got the PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Bologna, working under the supervision of Prof.ssa Margherita Venturi in the design, synthesis and characterization of supramolecular systems.

From 2010 to 2016 he got research fellowships to work at the Photochemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry group, directed by Prof. Vincenzo Balzani, in the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician”. Since  2021 he is associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences. Since 2017 he is an associate researcher at the Institute for Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (CNR-ISOF).

He has published more than 60 research papers published on international journal, 3 of which are review articles, 4 book chapters and one monograph.

He attended more than 30 national and international conferences with oral or poster presentations (in particular oral presentations at:"6th International Dendrimer Symposium (IDS-5)" Stockholm; "4rd EuChems Chemistry Congress" Prague; "Multi-Responsive Photochromes Conference 2016" Nantes.

He was awarded "Serena Maurizi per i giovani, la ricerca, la professione chimica" at the XXIII Congress of the Italian Chemical Society in 2010. He won the Prize"Springer-Verlag Theses Award" in 2011. He was a finalist in 2012 at the "European Young Chemistry Award". He won the "Reaxys SCI Young Researcher Award in Materials Sciences, Industrial and Inorganic Chemistry" in 2015. He won the prize for the "Best Oral Presentation" at the Italian Photochemistry Meeting 2015.
