The main research activities in livestock science are linked to:

  • genetic studies aimed at investigating the molecular patterns associated with livestock production performances and with pig carcass and meat quality
  • the study of genes involved in fat deposition and fatty acid composition in animal products.
  • animal welfare and the statistical analysis of data obtained from environmental measurements in heat stress conditions
  • the investigation of the molecular patterns at the basis of breast myopathies in broilers
  • the study of sows' colostrum composition and of its effects on piglets' performances.
