Social Construction of Gender and Intersectional Perspectives

This area examines the processes through which gender is constructed, negotiated, and institutionalised within educational, social, and digital contexts, in relation to dimensions such as social class, cultural background, sexual orientation, and age. Research focuses on the discursive and symbolic forms that shape youth identities, as well as on the intersectional biases produced and amplified by digital media and educational technologies, including through qualitative and participatory methodologies.

Masculinities in Educational Contexts

This area investigates the social representations, normative expectations, and symbolic mechanisms that influence the presence of men in care and educational settings, with particular attention to early childhood education and school environments traditionally associated with women. It brings together perspectives from social psychology, education, and gender studies, drawing on empirical approaches based on interviews, observations, and visual methods.

Discursive Constructions of Youth in Media and Public and Political Discourses

This area critically analyses representations of youth in traditional media, social media, and political discourse, with particular attention to the processes of categorisation, othering, and symbolic regulation through which identities, forms of belonging, and social boundaries are constructed. Research focuses on youth figures that become objects of public controversy and moral panic, as well as on the mechanisms of stigmatisation, racialisation, exclusion, and hypervisibility affecting migrant, queer, and working-class youth, along with other socially marginalised groups.

Theoretical and Methodological Reflections on Participatory Action Research

This area explores the epistemological, methodological, and relational dimensions of participatory action research, with particular attention to processes of knowledge co-construction, reflexivity, power dynamics, and the involvement of participants as active agents in educational and social transformation.
