Keywords: Mass spectrometry; Liquid chromatography; Protein characterization; Post-translational modification; Surface plasmon resonance

The research activity is mainly focused on the structural and functional characterization of proteins of pharmaceutical and clinical interest using liquid chromatography techniques coupled with mass spectrometry, MALDI-TOF, fluorimetry and atomic force microscopy. Main research lines:

-- Assessment of pathological and prognostic significance of albumin structural and functional alterations in conditions of increased oxidative stress and inflammation, with particular interest in alterations related to liver cirrhosis and diabetes mellitus.

-- Others research lines deal with the study of pharmaceutical targets related to tumor therapy, with particular focus on histone proteins and the epigenetic target SMYD3, and with the development of methodologies for the characterization and monitoring of the aggregative process of amylodogenic proteins in the research field of Alzheimer's disease therapy.
