Mariella Lorusso is Associate Professor of English language and translation (Academic Discipline: L-LIN/12), Department of the Arts - DAR, University of Bologna, Rimini campus. 

 

Education:

 

2006 PhD in Literatures and Cultures of English Speaking Countries – specialization in Native Canadian Literature - from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bologna, Italy. The title of the doctoral thesis is: “Fighting Terrorism since 1492: resistenza, armonia e spiritualità nella comunità delle donne aborigene canadesi nelle opere di Kateri Akewenzie-Damm, Jeannette Armstrong e Ruby Slipperjack”.



1991  MA in Foreign Languages and Literature (English and German) from the Faculty of Foreign Languages ad Literature, IULM University of Milan, Italy.

 

1980-85  University Diploma, School for Interpreters and Translators, Bologna. Languages studied: English and German. Specialisation: conference interpreting (simultaneous, consecutive and written translation).

 

1980 Diploma from Liceo Scientifico “Einstein”, Rimini, RN, Scientific High School.

 

October 1984-May 1985 Training course for conference interpreters organized by the European Social Fund and the Region Emilia-Romagna at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Bologna

 Native American Writers Conference held at Greyhills Academy, Tuba City, Arizona. Among the writers invited were Simon Ortiz, Lance Henson, Barney Bush, Gloria Miguel. Research studies on Native Literature and Culture at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

 

1991 - 4-month stay

 Visiting California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and New York State contacting universities to develop research on Native American literature and culture (Main sponsors: Native American Studies Center, University of New Mexico; Department of Native American Studies, University of Santa Fe).
