Education
She obtained her Master's Degree in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2012. In 2017, she earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, Linguistics and Cognitive Neuroscience from the same university, with a dissertation focusing on the processing of emotions and human gestures during early infancy. During her doctoral studies, she was a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, Radboud University, Nijmegen (The Netherlands).
Academic Career
After completing her Ph.D., she conducted research at the Department of Psychology of the University of Milano-Bicocca as both a research fellow and postdoctoral researcher. From 2023 to 2025, she served as Assistant Professor (RTDA) in Developmental and Educational Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. In 2023, she obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) for the position of Associate Professor in Developmental and Educational Psychology (Academic Recruitment Field 11/E2). Since 2025, she has been Associate Professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Bologna.
Teaching Activities
She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in typical and atypical developmental psychology within degree programmes in Psychology, Sociology and Social Work, Professional Education, and Primary Teacher Education.
Research Activities
Her research focuses on socio-emotional and cognitive development during early childhood. She has participated in several national and international research projects, including PRIN, European Research Council (ERC), and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions projects. She collaborates with national and international research groups in the fields of developmental neuroscience and developmental psychology.
She is the author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including Developmental Science, Infancy, Social Neuroscience, Cognition, Child Development, and Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews.
Editorial and Scientific Activities
She serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals, including PLOS ONE, Acta Psychologica, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Infant Behavior and Development, Frontiers in Psychology, and Scientific Reports.
Awards and Honors
In 2018, she received the Jacobs Foundation Travel Award at the International Conference on Infant Studies (Philadelphia, USA).
