Marco Solaroli is Associate Professor of Sociology of Culture and Communication in the Department of the Arts at the University of Bologna. He studied at the University of Bologna, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and the University of Milan. He was Fulbright Research Scholar in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University.
His research interests reside at the intersection of cultural sociology, cultural studies, visual culture studies, and journalism studies, focusing in particular on cultural production, innovation, and consecration. His current research projects deal with news photography and global crises; social media and political power; popular music and national identity.
At the University of Bologna he teaches courses of Sociology of digital media; Visual culture and Visual journalism; Italian popular culture.
