Marco Roccetti, born in 1963, has been Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Bologna since 2000. He holds an MSc (5-year degree) in Electronic Engineering and a Professional Engineering Qualification (MEng) since 1989.
He teaches Human Data Science, served on the Scientific Board of the Italian Space Agency (2022–24), and has been a member of the Bologna Academy of Sciences since 2019. Former coordinator of the PhD School on Data Science & Computation at UniBo, he held visiting positions at ICSI (UC Berkeley, 1993) and UCLA (2011–15).
A senior scientist, he has maintained an independent publication record for over three and a half decades, with no more than two collaborators per paper on average, and h-indexes of 38 (Scopus) and 48 (Google Scholar).
A strong background in statistical and mathematical methods, particularly structural engineering and variance analysis, has supported his research on systems and networks, as well as on the epistemology and integrity of big data across several domains, including medicine, archaeology and trasportation.
