Luisa dall'Acqua conducts research and teaching in applied cognitive neuroscience and decision science, with a focus on safety/security, decision‑making under risk, uncertainty, and technological mediation in safety and security sectors. Her research is centred on human–AI decision systems, examined as complex socio‑technical systems in which cognitive, ethical and governance, and technological factors interact. In particular, she investigates the impact of advanced AI systems, including AI‑driven, cyber, and quantum‑enabled environments, on human cognition, trust in automation, responsibility attribution, and individual and collective decision dynamics. Her approach integrates cognitive science, decision‑theoretic models, cognitive ergonomics, and computational methods, drawing on experimental paradigms and interdisciplinary collaborations. The overarching aim is to contribute to the design of reliable and cognitively sustainable human–machine systems, providing empirically grounded insights for AI ethics and governance.
