Keywords: Multiphase converter Matrix Converter Linear motor Electric vehicles Vector control of AC motors Direct Torque Control Electric motors Electric drives Power electronics converters

The research activity is mainly related to the design and the control of power electronic converters and of electric drives, in the fields of industrial automation, of electric vehicles and of renewable energy sources.

At present the research topics are the following ones.

Electric Drives
- vector control of electric drives based on induction and brushless motors for high speed applications
- sensorless and adaptive control of induction machines
- control of electric drives based on multiphase motors
- control of fault-tolerant drives
- positioning control of tubular linear actuators

Design of Electrical Machines
- design of single-phase transformers
- design of multiphase induction and synchronous machines
- design of linear tubula actuators

Power Electronics
- design and control of AC/AC matrix converters
- design and control of multiphase and multilevel converters
- modulation strategies for voltage source inverters (three-phase, multilevel) and matrix converters

Diagnostics
- non-invasive methods for the fault diagnosis in doubly-fed induction machines
- fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of power converters and electric drives

Electric Propulsion
- vector control of electric drives based on induction and brushless motors for electric vehicle applications
- modeling of electric propulsion systems
- more-electric aircraft systems
