Luca Pareschi is Associate Professor of Organization Studies at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Department of Management and Law. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Bologna.
His academic work situates organization studies at the intersection of cultural management and the analysis of innovation processes. His research explores how organizations take shape through practices, discourses, and social relations, with particular attention to cultural and creative contexts, processes of institutional transformation, and the interactions between technological innovation and work practices. His research mainly employs qualitative methodologies, often integrated with computational techniques for the analysis of texts and organizational discourse.
One area of research concerns the management of arts, culture, and craft. In this field he studies cultural organizations, festivals, and creative communities, analysing the relationship between cultural production, professional skills, and organizational models. In recent years this research has focused in particular on contemporary craft, exploring the tensions between tradition and innovation and the role of craft knowledge in processes of economic and cultural development.
A second research area concerns the relationship between digital innovation and organization. Within this line of work he has investigated the role of digital technologies in organizational processes, with particular attention to emerging forms of work in contexts characterized by the interaction between humans and advanced technologies. From this perspective he has also contributed to the development and use of computational text analysis tools applied to the social sciences and digital humanities.
Another area of research addresses institutional processes and organizational change through the analysis of public discourse. In this context he has studied topics such as the construction of European identity, the communication of public policies, and the dynamics of legitimation and contestation in institutional transformations. These studies are mainly grounded in neo-institutional theory and integrate perspectives from economic sociology and critical theory.
In recent years, an increasing part of his research has also focused on inclusion and social sustainability within organizations. In this field he has examined, among other topics, the accessibility of public and commercial spaces for people with disabilities and the role of organizations in promoting inclusive practices.
His scientific production includes articles published in international journals, monographs and book chapters, as well as numerous contributions presented at international academic conferences.
Throughout his career he has participated in several national and international research projects. He is currently the scientific coordinator for the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” within the Horizon Europe project Hephaestus – Heritage in Europe: New Technologies in Craft for Preserving and Innovating Futures, dedicated to the study and development of new training methodologies for European traditional craft.
Previously, he contributed to the Horizon 2020 project PERCEIVE, coordinated by the University of Bologna. Within this project he participated in research activities on the communication of European cohesion policies and on the role of public discourse in shaping European identity.
Alongside European projects, he has developed and coordinated several research initiatives on topics such as automated text analysis in the social sciences, the organization of work, and the transformation of cultural organizations. Among these, the interdisciplinary project CATARSI focused on developing digital tools for computational text analysis.
Luca Pareschi is actively involved in the international scholarly community of organization studies and regularly participates in major academic conferences such as EGOS and EURAM, as well as other international workshops and seminars. During his career he has received several academic recognitions, including best paper awards from international scholarly associations.
In terms of teaching, in recent years he has taught graduate and master’s level courses on topics related to organization studies, human resource management, and the management of cultural organizations. His teaching includes courses on organization theory, arts and cultural management, the organization of work and cultural institutions, teamwork, and organizational models in the creative industries.
Alongside his academic activity, he is also involved in public engagement initiatives and collaborations with cultural institutions. Since 2008 he has collaborated with Festivaletteratura in Mantua, and within the Horizon Europe project Hephaestus he conceived and curates the podcast PodCraft, dedicated to the stories and practices of contemporary craft.
Through his research, teaching, and collaborations with cultural institutions, Luca Pareschi contributes to the development of organization studies applied to the cultural and creative sectors and to a broader understanding of the transformations of work and organizations in contemporary society.
