Associate Professor in Geophysics at Alma Mater afrom 2023, I focus on unconventional seismic imaging, especially attenuation, scattering and absorption tomography, applied at all Earth scales from rock to lithosphere. My favourite recent topic is the link between Geodynamics and its Geophysical responses, aimed at improving Earth imaging and seismo-volcanic risk.

Education

I graduated in Physics (2005, Federico II University, Naples, Italy) and defended a PhD in Geophysics at Alma Mater (2009, with a scholarship from Osservatorio Vesuviano, INGV).

Academic Career

After a 1-year post-doc at the Osservatorio, I became a Research Fellow at the Institut für Geophysik, Westfälisches Wilhelms Universität, Münster (2010, Germany), focusing on imaging volcanic structures with seismology. After 4.5 years, I got my first full-time permanent position at the School of Geosciences, University of Aberdeen (UK), where I established a group working on volcano, geothermal, and reservoir imaging. In March 2019, I left the permanent lectureship to becomea Visiting (5-year) Professor of Volcano Seismology at the Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg Universität (Mainz), devoting myself to modelling, liaising with Geodynamics and Volcanology. From September 2023, I moved to the Department of Physics to expand my research to all Earth scales and beyond.Carriera accademica
