Graduated with honors in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics from the University of Bologna, he obtained a PhD from the Department of Anatomy at the University of Bologna. He is Full Professor at the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences (DIBINEM), University of Bologna, Director of the Operative Dentistry and Prosthodontics Unit, and Director of the Master Program in Esthetic Conservative Dentistry at the University of Bologna. He is also Honorary Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Editor-in-Chief of Dental Cadmos, Associate Editor of the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry, Active Member of the Italian Academy of Conservative Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry (AIC), the Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry (SIDOC), Fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials, and Associate Member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry.
Past President of the following scientific societies: Italian Academy of Conservative and Restorative Dentistry (AIC), European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD), International Academy of Adhesive Dentistry (IAAD), Dental Materials Group (DMG) of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and the Academy of Dental Materials (ADM).
Professor Breschi is internationally recognized as one of the leading experts in adhesive and esthetic restorative dentistry, actively collaborating with several international research groups. He has lectured at numerous national and international congresses, including the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. He is the only Italian speaker to have been honored with the prestigious 2025 Buonocore Lecture.
He is the author of more than 300 publications in international peer-reviewed journals with impact factor, focusing on composite resin adhesion to enamel and dentin. He has an h-index above 70 and more than 10,000 citations.
