Full Professor of Metallurgy at the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna. She is author of over 200 scientific papers on peer-reviewed journals or on proceedings of international conferences, of one book edited by Springer on nanocomposite materials, of a chapter in the Vol.18, Friction, Lubrication, and Wear Technology (ASM Handbook). Her research activity is mainly focused on the microstructure-property-process relationships for light alloys (aluminum, magnesium, and its composites), steels and cast irons, and recently on the metallurgical aspects of addictive manufacturing by selective laser melting. Fatigue and tribological behavior of metallic materials, even in the presence of surface modification treatments, are main themes of interest. She is responsible for national and international research projects, as well as for several industrial collaborations with local companies.
