Full Professor of Metallurgy at the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna. She is author of over 200 scientific papers on peer-reviewed journals or on proceedings of international conferences, of one book edited by Springer on nanocomposite materials, of a chapter in the Vol.18, Friction, Lubrication, and Wear Technology (ASM Handbook). Her research activity is mainly focused on the microstructure-property-process relationships for steels and cast irons, light alloys (aluminum, magnesium, and its composites) and, recently, on the metallurgical aspects of addictive manufacturing by selective laser melting. Fatigue and tribological behavior of metallic materials, related to chemical composition and process, including heat treatment, are main themes of interest. She is responsible for national and international research projects, as well as for several industrial collaborations with local companies, in the automotive and packaging sectors, in particular.
