Teaching

Dissertation topics suggested by the teacher.

The student who intends to carry out the thesis in 'Scenography: elements of theory and history' must agree on the topic of the research with the teacher. She will then prepare a brief reasoned presentation of the thesis project, integrated with the reference bibliography and an initial subdivision into chapters and will submit it to the supervisor. After the student's approval, the graduate student * will start the work and report on the status of the research. If the rapporteur has no news on the progress of the thesis for a period of six months, she will be free to address the same topic to another candidate.

The lecturer proposes research that intertwines Animal Studies and Performance Studies, in a field recently defined as Animal Performance Studies.

Animals in the contemporary scene

Animal presences in the history of the Santarcangelo festival.

Animality between theater and ritual.

Ritual theater: example of the Natura O 'Thiasos Theater.

Experiences of possession between scene and ritual as crossing the barriers between species.

The direction can be that of an expansion of the concept of Performance: it must not be limited to a human-centered definition based on a reductive idea of language, rather the performance is to be understood as lived, incarnation process.

In this conceptual framework the practice of performance is seen as a possible modality of experience and communication in which the performance itself, as an included concept, is an example of embodied knowledge and communication. Examples of interspecific Performances are proposed and encountered

Another direction can be:

From the performing body to Performing the species between literature and mimetic arts

On the basis of the concept of Butlerian performativity and the theory of gender theory as a socio-cultural construct, today we also speak of "species performativity", or the social production of species identity (species-identity).

Another pattern of research:

Animal epiphany and cultural hybrids in the performing arts

Roberto Marchesini's concept of animal epiphany, and his hypothesis that altered states of consciousness and their cultural articulations in certain possession ceremonies or shamanic practices result in a different energy state, of another-species.
