Juan Carlos Barbero Bernal holds a degree in Spanish Philology (University of Salamanca, 1993) and a Ph.D. in Translation, Interpretation and Interculturality (University of Bologna, 2015) with a thesis on grammars of the Italian language addressed to Spanish speakers of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Since November 2, 2024, he has been Associate Professor at the Department of Interpretation and Translation, University of Bologna (Forlì campus). Previously, he was Associate Professor at the Department of Humanities of the University of L'Aquila (May 2017-November 2024) and a Researcher on a permanent basis at the same University (October 2011-April 2017). His main area of research is linguistic historiography (Italian-Spanish grammaticography and metalessicography). He is also involved in creating printed and multimedia teaching resources for teaching Spanish to Italian-speaking students.
