Giusella Dolores Finocchiaro

Giusella Finocchiaro is a full professor of Private Law and Internet Law at the University of Bologna, where she is head of the Internet and Social Media Law course. She is a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Bologna. She is founder of Studio Legale Finocchiaro, a boutique law firm based in Milan and Bologna, which specializes in new technologies law, privacy law, e-commerce law and electronic signature law. From 2014 to 2022, Finocchiaro was Chairperson of the UNCITRAL Commission on Electronic Commerce and a member of the UNIDROIT working group developing International Principles and Legislative Guidance on Digital Assets and Private Law.

She has been Chairperson of the Commission appointed by the legislative office of the Italian Ministry of Justice for the drafting of legislative decrees to bring national law into line with the European regulation on personal data protection. She is a legal expert of the World Bank and was President of the Banking Foundation “Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna” from 2015 to 2023. She currently holds a number of corporate positions.
