Short Bio

Giusella Finocchiaro is a Full Professor of Internet and Artificial Intelligence Law and of Private Law at the University of Bologna and a standing member of the Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute. From 2014 to 2022, she served as Chair of the UNCITRAL Working Group on Electronic Commerce and was a member of the UNIDROIT Working Group on Digital Assets and Private Law. She chaired the Commission appointed by the Italian Ministry of Justice to draft the legislative decrees implementing the European Union data protection framework. She is currently a member of the Artificial Intelligence Commission for Information established by the Department for Information and Publishing of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy and of the Scientific Committee of the Observatory on the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence Systems in the Workplace established by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies. She serves as a legal expert for the World Bank and is the author of numerous publications on Internet Law, Artificial Intelligence Law and digital regulation.

Professor Finocchiaro is available to meet with students at the end of each class and by appointment to be arranged via email.
