Giovanni Tartarini is Associate Professor of Electromagnetic
Fields at the School of
Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna, and
belongs to the Department of Electrical, Electronic and
Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI) of the same
University.
At present he teaches "Optical and Radiofrequency Circuits and Systems" for the Bachelor Degree in
Electronics and Telecommunicationi Engineering, the Course
"Optical Fiber Systems" for the Master Degree in
Telecommunications Engineering and the Course "Optical Technologies for Electrical Engineering" for the Master Degree in Elecrical Engineering..
In the three-year periods 2015-2018 and 2018-2021 he held two mandates as Coordinator of the Bachelor Degree Course in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.
He is the Head of the Optics Laboratory of DEI, and his main research interests are
the Applications of Microwave Photonics to Telecommunications
Systems and the Development of Simulation Tools and the Numerical
Modelling of Optical Devices and Components.
He maintains active relationships of
collaboration with research bodies (like the of Institute of
Radioastronomy-Italian Institute of Astrophysics) and
with private companies (like Marconi Labs) aimed to the theoretical and experimental investigation
on "Radio over Fiber" optical systems for applications in the
fields of telecommunications and of radioastronomy.
He collaborates with other Universities or Institutes of
Superior Education, like the Technische Universiteit of
Eindhoven (TUE), the Conservatoire national des arts et
metiers (CNAM) and the ESIEE, both of Paris, with which he
has activated students exchange agreements within the Erasmus+
framework.
From 2008 to 2011 he has been the scientific and
technical responsible for the University of Bologna within the
Integrated Project "Architectures for Flexible
Photonic Home and Access Networks" (A.L.P.H.A.), sponsored
by the European Community in the VII Research Framework
Program.
Giovanni Tartarini is author or co-author of over 100 scientific
works published on Journals or in International Conferences. He
also performs the role of reviewer for various scientific Journals
in the fields of Optics and Microwave Photonics.
He got the Diploma at the Classical Gymnasium and Lycee "G. Cevolani" of Cento
(Ferrara, Italy), and got his MSc degree in Electronic
Engineering and PhD degree in Information and Communication
Technology at the Faculty of
Engineering of the University of Bologna.
From 1987-1990 he served as Teacher and Training Consultant in
some Colleges and Technical Schools of Manila (Philippines) in the
framework of a Cooperation Project of the Italian NGO Tovini
Foundation of Brescia (Italy).
