Teaching

Dissertation topics suggested by the teacher.

1) Development of advanced 3D cell culture techniques (tumor spheroids, organoids, including bioprinting) for the testing of pharmaceuticals, chemicals and nanostructures and for personalized medicine.

2) Development of nanostructures based on the assembly of nucleic acids for intracellular or diagnostic applications (example: interfering with neuroinflammation).

3) Development of atomic force microscopy techniques for the characterization of macromolecules, vesicles and nabostructures, and cells, including the nanomechanical characterization of eukariotic cells.

4) development of biosensors towards biomarkers of interest in cardiology

candidates can also choose amongst internship projects at related laboratories abroad: the projects need to be confirmed and defined in detail at the moment of interest.

- Nanobiophotonics Lab of the Leibnitz Institute at Jena (Germany): biosensor applications of plasmonic nanoparticles.

- Univ. of Edinburgh: availability to be defined
