Present Academic Position
Associate Professor in Semiotics
(M-FIL/05), Bologna University, Rimini campus, Department of Life Quality Studies, since October 2013. From March 2004 to September 2013, Department of
Communication Disciplines.
Teaching activities: since A.Y. 2007-2008 Semiotics of
Fashion (10 CFU), 1st Level Degree Course in Costume and
Fashion Cultures and Techniques, same campus. Since A.Y. 2010-2011
the course unit is called Languages and Techniques of Made in
Italy, and the credits are 12. In A.Y. 2014-2015 the credits
are reduced to 6.
Since A.Y. 2003-2004 to 2007-2008 Sociosemiotics of
Fashion (5 credits) and Fashion Languages and Signs (5
credits), 2nd Level Degree Course in Fashion Systems and
Communication, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, Rimini Campus. Since A.Y. 2008-2009 Sociosemiotic Analysis of
Fashion (12 credits) at the 2nd Level Degree Course in Fashion
Studies, same campus. Since A.Y. 2015-2016 Socio-semiotic analysis of Fashion in the Fashion Culture and
Management 2nd Level Degree Course (6 credits).
From July 2008 to March 2010 he has been the Scientific Director of the
Master Program in Fashion Production and Culture - Collection
Product Manager, Bologna University.
Assistant Professor in Semiotics from March, 1st,
2001 to February, 2nd, 2004 at Milan Polytechnic, III College of
Architecture (School of Design), INDACO Department, as tenured
professor in Theory of Languages and Semiotics, in
the 1st Level Degree Course in Industrial Design.
Qualifications
High School degree at Liceo Classico Giulio Cesare, Rimini.
Degree of 'Laurea' in Philosophy at Bologna University in 1979,
dissertation in Semiotics, supervisor Prof. Umberto Eco. Title of
dissertation: Charles S. Peirce's Theory of Abduction.
Ph.D. in Semiotics. Dissertation presented on June, 6th 1992.
Title: The Foundation of Semiotics in C.S. Peirce. Degree
Committee: Professors Tullio De Mauro, Umberto Eco, Paolo
Leonardi.
Winner of public competion for a Research Associate position
with life tenure in January 2001, at Milan Polytechnic, III College
of Architecture (School of Design). Official enrolment as a public
employee March 1st, 2001.
Working experiences, fellowships and collaborations
I began to collaborate with the Istituto di Discipline della
Comunicazione of Bologna University in 1980, giving some lectures
in introductory classes of computer science for undergraduates.
I worked as a life position teacher in Italian Secondary Public
School (12 to 14 years olds) in school years 1984-85 and 1985-86. I
resigned in 1986.
Since 1986 I teach in professional training courses in the
fields of communication and semiotics.
1988-1994: writer and columnist for Radio RAI (Italian public
national radio).
1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 lectures on Peirce's semiotics on behalf
of the Chair of Semiotics, Bologna University.
1996-2004: professor of creative writing at the Upper School for
Interpreters and Translators "San Pellegrino" in Misano Adriatico,
post-degree program Translating Literature.
Academic Year 2000-2001: tutor in the Master program in E-Design
at Poli.Design Consortium, Milano.
Academic Years 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-2001: professor of
Text Analysis at Scuola Superiore for Interpreters and
Translators "San Pellegrino" in Misano Adriatico.
