Gabriele D'Uva received a Master's degree in Biotechnology and a PhD degree in Cellular and molecular Biotechnology.
He spent more than five years at the Weizmann Institute of Science, a prestigious research center in Israel. In 2016, he started a research group at the research hospital IRCCS MultiMedica (Milan, Italy), thanks to competitive European and national funding.
Since 2019 he is a Professor of Molecular Biology and head of a research unit at Bologna University, where he is also a member of the PhD Board of Surgical Sciences and Innovative Technologies. He also carries out research activities at IRCCS Policlinico S. Orsola of Bologna.
Prof. D'Uva has extensive research experience in molecular mechanisms governing cell differentiation in the context of development and tissue renewal/regeneration and in cancer (Nature 2018; Nature Communication 2014; Nature Immunology 2012; Nature Immunology 2011). He uncovered a key role for ERBB2 co-receptor and Glucocorticoid Receptor (GR) in cardiac regeneration (Nature Cell Biology, 2015; Nature Cardiovascular Research 2022), which has had a significant scientific and mass-media coverage.
