Research activities are mainly focused on the following topics:

  • Identification and genomic characterization of foodborne pathogens along the farm to fork chain
  • Use of larvae of Galleria mellonella as in vivo infection model for the evaluation of the pathogenicity potential of foodborne bacteria
  • Molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance and evaluation of strategies for the reduction of antimicrobial use in poultry
  • Growth and survival of foodborne pathogens in food of animal origin
  • Effects of innovative technologies on the growth and survival of foodborne pathogens in food
  • Persistence of Listeria monocytogenes in food processing plants
